First of all, I'm a little disappointed that I had to go through another Sun/Jin episode. I feel like we've been there, done that. Last night's flashback added some depth to their story, but I don't see that it changed anything about it. And is Sayid doing drugs? Surely he should have thought they'd come in through the water.
That said, as usual with a slow episode, the last segment was awesome.
Benry is acting circles around the whole cast in my opinion. I find it interesting that he is working through bribery. He's done nothing to establish trust.
Has it been established that Jack is from Boston? Is that even his home anymore? What does he have there?
I get the sense that the Others are not as in control as they seem. I don't think there are "other others," but they are fighting against something.
Juliet is a total badass.
Good for Sun for putting a bullet in one of them. She should have gone for more.
How did they not know about the boat? I need a refresher on what we know about Kelvin.
I'm thinking Kelvin is actually an other other. Because in my head there was the Dharma Intiative and that group was split in two. Kelvin is part of the dissident faction. The Juliet and Benjamin Linus part we are seeing was probably the largest and, of course, they think they are the good guys too.
I actually loved this episode. We are seeing that Sun really isn't good. And that Jin is actually way more "good" than we would have ever thought at the beginning.
I don't think Jack is from Boston. I think he and his father just had Red Sox fetishes.
I wonder what Colleen meant by Sun's shooting her would make them enemies? Aren't they already enemies? And it was weird to hear Sun's last name. You kind of forget that the characters have full names.
And I'm not sure how I feel about there actually being contact with the outside world. I'm not sure if I feel the show's concept is cheapened or even more sinister than I had originally thought.
I think Ben is just plain crazy. And I want to know about what's on the screens. It looked like he could see outside in the jungle where Sayid and Jin were.
I just feel like Sun/Jin have been done to death at this point. Let's get some other backstory. I don't think there's a split group of others, but I definately think there is dissention in the ranks. There's some kind of tension going on with Ben and Juliet (thanks, Captain Obvious), but I think it more than a romantic thing. I think there is disagreement about how to do certain things.
I was weirded out by the enemies thing too. Especially considering how they have somehow divided these people into two groups. Was Sun a "good" one until she shot the chick? Does that mean Jack, Kate, and Sawyer aren't "good?"
I think there had to be some kind of contact with the outside world. Hanso is involved in this to some degree. But then that begs the question, why did the need those "lists?" Couldn't they just figure out which plane went down and get a manifest? We obviously have more to learn about the lists.
I think it is obvious that while they have contact with the outside world, they don't fully comprehend it. The moment when Ben told Jack the Sox won the world series was hilarious. The look on Ben's face was so perfectly confused (and in such an understated way - again acting circles around everyone, IMHO). He just didn't get why that would be inconceivable.
I just found this quote from Jack's Dad in Season 1:
"It's fate. Some people are just supposed to suffer. That's why the Red Sox will never win the damn Series."
Gives added weight to the video selection Benry shows.
